This blog has run mild features in the past but has at times struggled to find enough examples to sample. Here is one brewed almost on our doorstep, well in Selby midway between Hull and Leeds, so it would be rude not to try this one.
Mild may be an unpopular drink but one I have a (not so) secret liking for, perhaps I was old before my time.
Top marks for the information on the label that includes the local CAMRA awards the cask conditioned version has won together with a comprehensive ingredient list.

Name : Dark Ruby Mild
Brewery: Jolly Sailor Brewery, Selby, North Yorkshire
Hops : Pilgrim and Willamette
Grain : Maris Otter, Munich, Crystal, Chocolate, Vienna, Caramalt malts, roasted barley and torrified wheat
Aroma : Caramel, toffee and hints of smoky roast
Appearance : Dark red/chestnut hued, clear with a cream coloured head
Body : Surprisingly full bodied with low carbonation and had some head retention
Taste : Initially malty with some sweetness, but not excessively so. The different malts bring some layered depth to the finish and there are hints of fruit in the aftertaste
Dietary restrictions : Allergens highlighted
A straightforward honest mild, but one done very well. Smooth and mellow on the palate, without being too sweet, it’s the sort of beer I could drink all night. I’ve not tried this in cask, but I would imagine the local awards it has been awarded are well deserved.
