Siren Craft Brew – Party in the Dark Nitro Milk Stout (4.6% ABV) #MilkStout

Welcome back beer lovers.

We do love a stout here at Hoptimist Towers and have been impressed with some of the ‘Nitro’ versions that are now available. This one has a modest ABV but promises much in terms of flavour.

Once again, this is a recommended ‘fast pour’ style one, with the can held vertically.

  1. Name : Party in the Dark Nitro Milk Stout
  2. Brewery: Siren Craft Brew Ltd, Finchampstead, Berkshire
  3. Hops : Not specified
  4. Grain : Malted barley, oats and rye
  5. Aroma : Heavy roasted, almost burnt coffee and quite earthy
  6. Appearance : Jet black with a head the colour of milky coffee. Produced a thick creamy nitro head
  7. Body : Full bodied, medium gassed and as expected good head retention
  8. Taste : Strong roast flavours with an intense coffee hit followed by a sweet kick. Earthy aftertaste with coffee and sweet chocolate
  9. Dietary restrictions : Allergens highlighted. Unfined and unfiltered

I poured as directed on the can and can confirm that it produces a pleasing nitro head that lasted to the end. Being unfiltered the label warns that sediment may be present but detected none.

The sweet vanilla lactose certainly comes through, but without becoming overpowering on the palate. The addition of oats helps to produce a lovely creamy mouthfeel, and it slips down silky smooth. This is one beer I would choose again. It may lack the complexity and depth of some of the Imperial Stouts on the market but sometimes you just want to sit back an relax with an excellent beer of sensible strength and this certainly fits the bill.
