TEH: 13 Haunted Beers – Brew York : Protocol, Pumpkin Spiced Stout (4.9% ABV)

The nights are drawing in, the air is turning crisp, and somewhere in the shadows… the beers are getting stranger.

Welcome back, brave drinkers, to the Eternal Hoptimists’ Spook-o-ween Special, our annual descent into the cellar where 13 haunted brews await. Each one cursed with mystery, mischief, and maybe even a little magic. From ghostly pales to monstrous stouts, we’re once again lighting the lantern to uncover what goes burp in the night…

Tonight, our fearless reviewer Chris takes the lantern in hand, ready to face whatever lurks within the next can…

1. Name :  Protocol (4.9% ABV)

2. Brewery: Brew York, York

3. Hops : N/A

4. Grain : N/A

5. Aroma : Cinnamon and spices with a Pumpkin Latte like scent.

6. Appearance : Very dark with a open mocha head when poured which was short lived and disipated to a film.

7. Body :  medium to full bodied, with a low level of carbonation but was smooth and warming

8. Taste: Very spiced up front, delicately warming with a good hit of pumpkin, along with those classic stout flavours, deep rich and very smooth.

This was really well balanced, between the smoothness and the spices this elevated this one to something special. It was very very tastey, very Autumnal. My verdict : Delicious.

Chris’s Jack ‘O Rating is: 4.0/ 5.0
