TEH: 13 Haunted Beers – Mash Gang : Lesser Evil ( 0.5% ABV)

The nights are drawing in, the air is turning crisp, and somewhere in the shadows… the beers are getting stranger.

Welcome back, brave drinkers, to the Eternal Hoptimists’ Spook-o-ween Special, our annual descent into the cellar where 13 haunted brews await. Each one cursed with mystery, mischief, and maybe even a little magic. From ghostly pales to monstrous stouts, we’re once again lighting the lantern to uncover what goes burp in the night…

Tonight, our fearless reviewer John takes the lantern in hand, ready to face whatever lurks within the next can…

1. Name :  Lesser Evil (0.5% ABV)

2. Brewery: Mash Gang

3. Hops :  N/A

4. Grain : N/A

5. Aroma :  Strong scents of Cherry and Vanilla.

6. Appearance : Very dark in appearance but has a red hue when it catches the light, the mocha coloured head although not long lasted was large and open when poured.

7. Body :  Medium bodied, good silky feel in the mouth, good level of carbonation but no head retention.

8. Taste:  Strong upfront hit of Cherry and Chocolate with a wash of vanilla following shortly afterwards, which is pretty impressive as there is no dairy in this one at all!. Not at all claggy, and very well balanced for my tastebuds.

As you may be able to tell from my description this is a beer I wouldn’t be upset about meeting in a dark alley. It is a little sweet, but I feel I can forgive this lesser evil!

John’s Jack ‘O Rating is: 4.0/ 5.0

The glass lies empty… yet something stirs. From the shadows of the cellar, a hiss escapes, and the promise of another cursed brew claws its way closer. Tomorrow, we open the next chapter in our tale of 13 Haunted Beers. Lock your doors, ready your glasses — the horror is only just beginning…
