Heaps Normal: Half Day Hazy, Hazy Pale (<0.5% ABV)

Hi there fellow beer lovers,

Next up, Sam is stepping in as we continue our low ABV series for 2026, this time with Heaps Normal Half Day Hazy (0.5% ABV). So far we have a bit of a mixed bag from Heaps Normal so we are hoping this one will put us back on track.

Heaps normal: Half Day Hazy

Name: Half Day Hazy

  1. Brewery: Heaps Normal
  2. Aroma : Very sweet scent of hops and wheat with a little underlying citrus.
  3. Appearance : Slightly hazed golden ale with a very large open white head when poured.
  4. Body : Thin in the mouth but with a good level of carbonation and head retention.
  5. Taste : Very sweet upfront which morphed to a more typical citrus palette that is to be expected, its a little light, no dankness but very refreshing.

Overall, I found this to be a solid low ABV offering, delivering the expected characteristics of a hazy pale without any real surprises.

It was a touch light on flavour and lacked the dankness we sometimes experience in these hazy pales. however the sweetness up front and the clean citrus finish made it an easy, refreshing drink.

For a 0.5% beer, it’s not a bad showing at all and in warmer weather it could easily become a popular, sessionable option. Just perhaps not the best fit for the arctic January we’re currently enduring.

Sam’s overall rating: 3.4/ 5.0
