Hello again beer fans.
Another ‘brown beer’ from one of my favourite Yorkshire breweries. It has been revamped since I first tried it, changing from ‘Best Bitter’ at 4.2% to ‘Modern Classic Bitter’ at 3.8%.

- Name : Yorkshire’s Best
- Brewery: Roosters Brewing Co, Harrogate
- Hops : Challenger, First Gold and Ernest
- Grain : Malted barley, wheat and oats
- Aroma : Light floral with a hint of malt
- Appearance : Pale amber, slight haze and a white head
- Body : Medium bodied, well carbonated but little head retention
- Taste : Malty, biscuity and dry to start, followed by a touch of fruit. Some sweetness in the finish
- Dietary restrictions : Allergens highlighted, gluten free and vegan friendly
Of the two versions I preferred the earlier one, which was stronger and slightly more bitter. Neither version is very bitter though, which gives the malt a chance to shine through. Falling into the easy drinking category it is a perfectly reasonable session beer and credit should be given to keeping the style alive.
Like a true best bitter, I believe it is better served cellar cool rather than over chilled.
Our overall rating: 3.4/ 5.0
