Hello, and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,
After its recent financial problems, it was great to see the future of this local brewery (to Hoptimist HQ) secured. To celebrate I decided to dust off the credit card pop in a cheeky order direct with the Brewery and take the opportunity to try some of the beers that we haven’t reviewed yet.
Just a few years ago if you had said I would be ordering beer direct from the brewery, including ordering non-alcoholic beers, I would have laughed at you. Now the joke would be on me, most offer great variety and service and some produce decent low and no alcohol beers.
This one is a peach flavoured pale ale (peach included in the label ingredients) and I have high hopes for it.
- Name : Flat Moon Society Peach Pale Ale
- Brewery: North Brewing Co., Leeds
- Hops : Not specified
- Grain : Barley and oats
- Aroma : Like a freshly cut peach
- Appearance : Pale gold, fairly opaque frothy white head
- Body : Medium bodied, well carbonated and with some head retention
- Taste : Some fruit initially not as strongly peach flavoured as I was expecting but a very dry finish with a touch of hop bitterness
- Dietary restrictions : Allergens highlighted and suitable for vegans
Had a great body for a non-alcoholic beer, but the lack of it was evident when drinking.
The peach flavouring was subtle rather than overpowering and there was a sherbet like fizz without it being excessively gassy.
A perfectly acceptable beer when alcohol is not an option.
