Hi there fellow beer lovers,
This was one of several Belgian beers that I picked up in Lidl during their recent Belgian produce week. I’ve had a few beers in Belgium whilst working in Antwerp, but I am no means an expert. Bokbier is traditionally only brewed in certain month of the year, generally October and May, and is a ruby red malty beer.
Leute Bokbier is served in a special tumbler glass with its own wooden base. The Belgians do like to make an event out of drinking a beer!

- Name : Leutbok
- Brewery: Brouwerij Van Steenberge, Ertvelde, Belgium
- Hops : Not specified
- Grain : Barley malt and rice
- Aroma : Malty with hints of forest fruits and a touch of yeast
- Appearance : Dark ruby red, clear and produced creamy white head
- Body : Full bodied, well carbonated with excellent head retention (great secondary fermentation)
- Taste : Strong on roasted malts, a little fruitiness and slightly on the sweet side with toffee/caramel notes
A lovely drop with outstanding head retention. Oats usually helps with head retention, perhaps that is why rice is used? A strong beer to be respected and deserves to be on a pedestal (or a bit of a plank at least.)
Our overall rating: 4.0/ 5.0
