Let’s face it, there are not many more consistent breweries with beers easily obtainable as North Brewing Co and it is always a pleasing sight to be able to walk into a supermarket and have a choice of a decent selection of their beers.
In this review we are taking a look at Open Space which is a 4.5% abv gluten free pale ale and going by description alone this looks like it could prove to be yet another very sessionable beer from this brewery.

1. Name : Open Space
2. Brewery: North Brewing Co (Leeds)
3. Hops : Simcoe & Chinook
4. Grain : Barley & Yeast
5. Aroma : Citrus and floral notes with a slight zesty grapefruit aroma accompanied by a resinous pine edge giving off West Coast vibes.
6. Appearance : Pours a hazy straw/light amber colour with a two finger fluffy white head.
7. Body : Nice light to medium body with a very pleasant mouthfeel.
8. Taste : Wow, this one is a wake up for the tastebuds! Full on zesty grapefruit and resinous pine that hits that palate as soon as the beer hits the mouth. It’s clean, crisp, extremely flavoursome and highly drinkable.
From the second that this is poured you can begin to appreciate the wonderful aroma emitting from the glass that instantly has you knowing that this is going to be yet another hit from North Brewing Co. As soon as the beer hits the mouth the full-on flavour explosion hits you straight away and you realise what a nice beer this is.
For a 4.5% abv beer North Brewing Co has certainly brewed something of high quality here that is not only highly drinkable but also extremely sessionable. As an added bonus the beer is gluten free which opens even more doors and hats off to the brewery, they seem VERY proud of the fact as this is described on the can quite clearly that this is a gluten free pale ale.
For another supermarket pick up this is a beer that I am glad that I grabbed a few of and is one that I will certainly be keeping my eyes open for in pubs, be it on cask or keg as I could easily sink a few pints of this.
