Hello, and welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists,
With so many US style IPAs on the market, it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd. Here is a West Coast IPA with a bit of a difference, a single hopped version. Ekuanot is added in T90 pellet, leaf and Cryo form during brewing.
- Name : Obsession
- Brewery: Abbeydale Brewery, Sheffield
- Hops : Ekuanot
- Grain : Barley and wheat
- Aroma : Citrusy and hints of fresh grassy hops
- Appearance : Straw coloured, hazy with a white head
- Body : Full bodied, well carbonated with some head retention
- Taste : An initial citrus hit, grapefruit, lime and then a bitter finish
- Dietary restrictions : Allergens highlighted
Despite the high bitterness of the finish this beer had a lovely juicy, fruity flavour up front and a smooth mouthfeel overall. A very enjoyable beer with some complexity to the flavour profile without becoming too busy with too many contrasts.
