Welcome back to the Eternal Hoptimists!
Those of you who follow us on social media will have noticed that for the past few weeks that John, Sue, Sam & Kayla have been trotting around Singapore trying some choice tipples on the other side of the world.
Lion Brewery is one of the bigger breweries we visited over there but who are Lion Brewery Co?
Lion Brewery Co was founded by friends in Singapore and London with a fierce passion for brewing the finest craft beer, who banded together and re-established a heritage beer brewery known for shipping IPAs around the globe throughout the 1800s.
They pride ourselves on brewing the finest sessionable beers to elevate every experience, in the relentless pursuit of the best of times,. or at least that’s what it says on their website.
From our experience it was a light and breezy brewery taproom with live sports, some interesting merchandise and well the beer? lets take a closer look at this Kaiser Kolsch shall we?..

- Name: Kaiser Kolsch
- Brewery: Lion brewery Co
- Hops: Hallertau Tradition hops
- Grain: Kveik yeast
- Aroma : Fresh floral notes and some summer fruits with hints of golden apples
- Appearance : Pours a fairly clear golden colour with a half finger width foamy head
- Body : Medium bodied, good level of carbonation with a good level of head retention.
- Taste: Clean, crisp and refreshing it had a strong hoppy profile with a wash of apples and summer fruits that makes your mouth water.
It was cold, wet and fruity, just what the doctor ordered in the hot humidity of Singapore.
This one really hit the spot, both John and I agreed this was an interesting one. There are not many beers I’ve had with Apple in and this one was quite the stand out example.
It’s a long way to go for a beer but if you are ever around in Singapore I recommend you stick your head in the tap room, it was well worth the visit!
