Every now and then, a beer pilgrimage is required. Not for sightseeing, not for culture (well… maybe a bit), but for the beer. This time, it took us to Copenhagen and straight through the doors of Warpigs.

where US-style hops, big stouts, and zero compromise are the order of the day. TEH on tour had officially begun.
Warpigs is Copenhagen’s unabashed celebration of bold, flavour-first beer culture its a Danish-American collab between Mikkeller and 3 Floyds that throws subtlety out the window.
At its heart you’ll find big, juicy hazy IPAs, rich imperial stouts, punchy hoppy experiments and perfectly roasted porters, all brewed on site alongside world-class barbecue.
So naturally we had to sample both! we are “on tour” after all!

Once the first pint was poured, there was only one thing left to do! its time to start reviewing.

We lined up a cross-section of Warpigs’ range and got stuck in, from sessions to lets just say something rather special!.
Ladies first!.. Kayla you are up first!

Name: 10 degrees Pivo (4% ABV) Czech Lager
- Aroma : Apple and caramel scent
- Appearance : Clear with Pale golden straw colour with a white film head.
- Body : Thin, light and slightly hoppy. Medium carbonation and decent head retention.
- Taste : Quite a deep malty profile, with a nice sweet apple and caramel finish
I have fast become a big fan of Czech lagers, so I was really looking forward to this one. All in all it didn’t disappoint, I admit this was not the best Czech beer I’ve had but it was not far away! the apple gave it a really nice freshness and Zing that made me want to go get another one!
Our overall rating: 4.2/ 5.0

Name: Lil Drunk Baby (4.9% ABV) Session IPA
- Aroma : Strong notes of fresh fruit fields, with a added Citrusy zing.
- Appearance : Clear amber, with a tight head white when poured
- Body : Medium bodied, with a good level of carbonation which gave it a good level of head retention.
- Taste : Quite dry and hoppy at the finish but very pleasant and full of flavour, pretty high on the citrus scale on the initial sip.
I can see why this seems to be a staple in Warpigs Sessions. Its very good indeed, and looking around a lot of people seem to be drinking it, so I cant be in the minority!
Our overall rating: 3.8/ 5.0

Name: Blueberry Head (5% ABV) Fruited Gose
- Aroma : Faint Sour berry scent.
- Appearance : Deep reddish purple with filmy pink head.
- Body : Medium bodied, film head (no head retention) with a decent level of carbonation.
- Taste : Fruity, salty and sour, Wow.. this was a real wake up call and contrasts and cutting through all other flavours from the previous beer and the BBQ.
As the “expert” on these when John isn’t around, I took the hit on this one. it was like drinking a concentrated taste of winter berries, with a blueberry almost salted bubble-gum twist, definitely not for everyone.
Dessert beer? Maybe.
Our overall rating: 3.7/ 5.0

Name: Krush’d Alive (6.5% ABV) Hazy Krush IPA
- Aroma : This one had a punchy tropical, fruity smell with a hoppy backing
- Appearance : Opaque cloudy apple juice appearance
- Body : Thin white head, good level of carbonation but medium to heavy in body
- Taste : This one was Dank, and fruity, it didnt have such a unique flavour profile as the last one, and its hoppyness is quite low which suits me.
This one is another example of a refreshing accompaniment to the rich BBQ food, it was morish and beautifully dank.
Our overall rating: 3.7/ 5.0

Name: Cold Drip (4.5% ABV) Coffee Irish Dry Stout
- Aroma : Strong scent of roasted coffee and earthy tones.
- Appearance : Black as night also closed fluffy white head
- Body : Medium bodied, good level of carbonation with cracking head retention.
- Taste : V strong coffee flavours good level of smoke/ roasted. incredibly deep and warming, but quite dry at the end.
Wowza IM AWAKE! this one was a right wake up call, a deep roasted malty mouthful indeed.
Our overall rating:4.2 / 5.0

Name: Iron Dice (5.5% ABV) Weisse Beer
- Aroma : Smells dangerous… this one is super malty..
- Appearance : Very dark earthy amber almost opaque with an open thin white head.
- Body : Medium bodied, perfect level of carbonation with a good head retention.
- Taste : Tastes even more dangerous than it smells. This is a deep deep malt flavour tailor-made for the smoky spare ribs which I may or may not also be eating… it has some real depth and a really good bite to it too.
This one was the best one so far, knocked me for six!
Our overall rating: 4.4/ 5.0

Ladies and Gents, After working our way through an impressive lineup, there was one final beer left to try. No hype, no grand expectations. Just one last pour before calling time.
As it turned out, this was the one that stopped the time itself, silenced our chat, and quietly became the best beer we’ve had all year, it also turned out to be the perfect dessert beer, complete with a name made for Christmas.(it was so good we reviewed it together)

Name: Youfkdupmychristmasandnowimfurious (6.8% ABV) Christmas Stout
- Aroma : Cacao on the nose with a hot of cinnamon
- Appearance : Pitch blacks night, closed off white head when poured
- Body : Medium crbonation with a good to heavy level of body and ok head retention
- Taste : Cold cinnamon hot chocolate at front which draws into a heavy long bitter dark chocolate making your mouth purse, this one is super decadent.
This one was a grower the more you drank the deeper you went, it had such bountiful cacao notes with that added twist that made you want to go back for more, as it happens we had a Keylime Pie desert with this and not to sound like that guy… but they were a perfect pairing adding that zesty twist and a little sweetness to the dark chocolate notes.
Beer of the year?… I think it might be !!!
Our overall rating: 4.8/ 5.0

But what about the BBQ?

Well….It was Tender, Flavourful and exactly what you’d hope for. Thick slices of smoked meat, sticky sauces, Fall apart Brisket and sides that know their place, all designed to soak up beer and keep you ordering another pint. This isn’t delicate dining believe me the amount of sauce near Michaela’s ears where a sure sign of that. But we had no problem what so ever in turning the above… into this! 11/10 we would go ( and will) again!
