Hi there fellow beer lovers,
Last weekend we donned our disguises and hopped the noth south boarder to London to catch up with friends. While good company was always going to be the main event, it would have felt downright irresponsible not to sneak in a little beer-based research while we were there.
Tucked just off the beaten track in Camden, right by the riverside, sits 3 Locks Brewing Co a taproom and event space that feels pleasantly removed from the quite overwhelming bustle in Camden.

Despite its minimalist in style it was still full of character, it’s the kind of place that quietly grows on you after five minutes through the door (helped enormously by the fact it’s dog-friendly).
Naturally, we grabbed a seat, a bevvie, and settled in to see exactly what they had to offer.

- Name: Indulgence (3.4% ABV)
- Aroma : Deep, rich chocolatey scent with a good malty backing.
- Appearance : Very dark, Slight Coffee tinge around the edge of the glass, slightly off-white to mocha coloured film head when poured.
- Body : Medium bodied, middle to low carbonation, with no head retention, but as smooth as a pub dog that’s learned exactly who drops the most crisps.
- Taste : Super chocolatey upfront with a mellow coffee and malty finish, with a tiny bit of vanilla thrown in for good measure.
This was a lovely well balanced tipple. And with the lower ABV of 3.4% it is absolutely cracking for a session ale. Its not heavy, or harsh and is actually quite refreshing for a stout.
Our overall rating: 4.2/ 5.0

- Name: Hefeweizen (5.1% ABV)
- Aroma : Zesty, with a sweet wheaty backing.
- Appearance : Opaque golden colour with a thin white head when poured.
- Body : Medium bodied, with a mild carbonation with a moderate astringency and decent head retention.
- Taste : Fresh zingy citrus, with a solid wheaty / bready background. despite this it was still fresh tasting and not claggy at all.
This was very nice and refreshing. I was pleasantly surprised by the bready/biscuity quality to the beer.
Our overall rating: 3.7/ 5.0

- Name : Session IPA (4% ABV)
- Aroma : Light fruity aroma with a nice hit of Hop
- Appearance : Clear golden ale with a white film head when poured.
- Body : Light, Fresh, Zesty, with mild carbonationand good head retention.
- Taste : Fresh and Zesty upfront with a wash of elderberry and hops to finish.
This was a light and breezy beer. Perfect for a hot summers day, Refreshing and morish I can see why this is there Session IPA, and if given the opportunity, id like to do a session on this (Kayla agreed).
Our overall rating: 3.8/ 5.0

That’s it from us this time empty glasses, aching feet, and another brewery firmly added to the “we’ll definitely be back” list.
If you find yourself nearby, pull up a chair and give it a try.
