Many beers have bold citrus flavours, mainly through hops, but some also have added flavouring. Lemon is not the most obvious one to add, I find that lemon flavouring added to food and drink can be overpowering, and this is an IPA not a sour. In this beer though, it is lemons rather than flavouring added to the brew, so let’s see if it works.

- Name : Lemon-dayz
- Brewery: Magic Rock Brewing, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
- Hops : Not specified
- Grain : Barley oats and wheat
- Aroma : Citrusy but not overpowering
- Appearance : Straw coloured, hazy and produced a brief white head
- Body : Full bodied, medium carbonation but head retention wasn’t great
- Taste : Subtle citrusy lemon favour with a slightly tart finish but not overpoweringly sour. Quite refreshing
A bold idea produces an excellent refreshing summer beer albeit with some potency. The lemons add subtle flavouring more like a homemade lemonade rather than an artificial mass market product. A pleasant drinking experience sat in the sun in the garden. A beer I will look out for.
