Welcome back fans of the blog. Today I am reviewing a beer from a brewery that don’t think I have tried before, Redwillow Brewery.
This is a pale ale that is described as ‘crushable’ at any time or place, so an everyday beer. However, this is a limited edition of the regular version, but in what way it is different is not clear.
The label design is a little dull (though I do love the willow tree logo) so hopefully the contents will do the talking.

- Name : Contactless Hazy Pale Ale
- Brewery: Redwillow Brewery, Macclesfield
- Hops : Cryo Mosaic and Simcoe
- Grain : Malted barley and oats
- Aroma : Faintly citrus
- Appearance : Golden, quite hazy with a white head
- Body : Medium bodied, medium carbonated with some head retention
- Taste : Initial hit of tropical fruit, juicy and quite soft on the palate. The finish is dry with some bitterness, and the fruit lingers in the aftertaste
- Dietary restrictions : Allergens highlighted and suitable for vegans
Quite a pleasant easy drinking experience and a beer I would happily drink several of in a session. It is a fair strength at 5.2% ABV, not quite IPA level but to be respected.
It is soft and juicy on the palate rather than being excessively bitter. It may lack the complexity of some pales, but sometimes you just want a simple but well-made beer to relax with and this certainly fits the bill.
The label states that it is naturally hazy, I would go further and suggest that it is unfiltered as it poured with sediment in the bottom of the glass.
Peter’s overall rating: 3.7/ 5.0
