Vibrant Forest – Black Forest (4.9% ABV)

Hi there fellow beer lovers,

If there’s one thing Stuart can be relied upon for, it’s finding his way towards the darker end of the bar. While the rest of us are often distracted by the latest hazy, fruity, or pastry inspired concoction, Stu remains a firm believer that a good porter or stout can solve most of life’s problems.

And I cant say that he is wrong!..

So when Black Forest from Vibrant Forest appeared on the radar, needless to say he made a bee-line for it! Lets see what he made of it.

Name: Black Forest, Porter ( 4.9 % ABV)

  1. Brewery:  Vibrant Forest
  2. Aroma :  Chocolatey, Malty and a touch of stoned fruits.
  3. Appearance : Pitch black, with a thin caramel head
  4. Body : Heavy bodied, it hugged the glass, and had a low carbonation, with good head retention.
  5. Taste : Good mouthful of chocolate and cherry without being overly sweet, had a touch of tar at the back, this one was a touch more traditional than craft.

My one pet peeve with modern stouts and porters is that they are all far too sweet, this one.. was not too sweet at all in fact it was close to perfect, the stoned fruits gave it some depth and the malty chocolate goodness made you go back for another mouthful

Stu’s overall rating: 4.5/ 5.0
