Vibrant Forest – Cacophony, Impy Chocolate Stout (8.4% ABV)

Hi there fellow beer lovers,

Sometimes when we get beers at the Eternal Hoptimists, eyebrows are raised and heated negotiations occur.. but this one nearly caused a diplomatic incident between Stu and Sam.

But as Stu got the Black Forrest it was only right that Sam got this one!

Name: Cacophony, Imperial Chocolate Stout

  1. Brewery: Vibrant Forest
  2. Aroma : Dark chocolate, with a beautiful rummy undertone with a touch of tar and caramel.
  3. Appearance : Dark as night, with a caramel halo at the edge of the glass, with a mocha head when poured.
  4. Body : Heavy bodied, with low carbonation a good level of head retention and positively velvety.
  5. Taste : Dark chocolate with a hit of caramel followed by a deep warming rummy hit that spready across your chest. Delicious!..

From the moment it hit the glass, this felt like a proper treat. Rich chocolate, warming rum-like notes, velvety smooth body, and enough depth to keep revealing new layers with every sip. It’s indulgent without becoming heavy-handed and complex without disappearing up its own backside.

Was it worth nearly coming to blows with Stuart over? Absolutely. In fact, now I’ve finished it, I’m even more convinced I made the right call. Sorry, Stu.

(Don’t worry I let him try a little.. I’m not a monster!)

Our overall rating: 4.8/ 5.0
