Hi there fellow beer lovers,
Now, we’re always a little wary when a beer leans heavily into a pun, because as every Jedi knows, too heavy a theming can often lead to disturbance in the pint.
Still, Mild and sci-fi references are a combination we didn’t know we needed. At a sensible 3.7%, this one certainly sounds more “session in the Mos Eisley cantina” than “Imperial-strength stout”, and honestly, it was exactly what the average Mild bounty hunter needed.
Name: The Malt Awakens, Galactic Mild (3.7% ABV)
- Brewery: Wye Valley Brewery
- Aroma : This one has a real ‘Mcvitie’s’ like scent to it, pure malt and biscuit.
- Appearance : This one poured a dark chestnut or ruby-brown hue, and had a tight white head when poured.
- Body : Medium bodied, smooth, with decent head retention.
- Taste : This one had a subtle initial toasted nut, followed by a real malty and biscuity finish!
This beer “awakens” the palate with fantastic body and depth. Its a truly outstanding Mild, and was a god send on the day that John and I had one!
Definitely the best Mild I have had in 2026, and I will be keeping my eyes open for more of these!
