Hi there fellow beer lovers,
Chris is stepping up to the bar with Very English IPA from RedWillow Brewery a beer proudly wearing its roots on its sleeve.
At 5.3% ABV, this is less about tropical overload and more about showcasing the kind of balanced, dependable character that traditional British brewing does so well.
The question is: “in a world full of ultra-hazy hop bombs, can a “Very English” IPA still stand out from the crowd?“

Name: Very English IPA
- Brewery: Redwillow Brewery
- Aroma : Heavy scents of candied orange ( Marmalade) with a light hoppy backing.
- Appearance : Clear black tea in colour with a slightly open head when poured.
- Body : Very light, and quite thin, lightly carbonated but with poor head retention.
- Taste : Very hoppy upfront but was undercut by a marmalade like sweetness that gave it a sweet orangey finish.
This was like a particularly Pithy bitter orange, not at all terrible but not exactly what I was expecting from an IPA.
It wasn’t really to my taste, but I can definitely see other people enjoying this one.
