Welcome back, fellow beer lovers!
As the Beer World Cup marches into the knockout stages, we’re heading across Europe for another football-inspired contender. This time it’s Funky Fluid, who clearly weren’t content with bringing just one player to the tournament they’ve turned up with an entire squad. In fact, we’ve got seven of their World Cup beers lined up over the coming week, so consider this the opening fixture of a very busy campaign.
First up is Hand of God, a 5.5% New England IPA that wears one of football’s most infamous moments proudly on the label.
But can this NEIPA punch its way into the next round, or will it be shown a red card before half-time?

Name: Hand of God
- Brewery: Funky Fluid
- Hops: Dolcita, Krush
- Aroma : Sweet hope with a good dose of citrusy fruit.
- Appearance : Cloudy IPA with a closed thin head when pored, not a terrible looking pint though.
- Body : Medium bodied, very light on carbonation and no head retention.
- Taste : Hoppy up front, not as much fruity flavour as was coming through the scent and has a particularly dry finish.
This one is not as dynamic as Diego. It was lacking the fruitiness I craved but it was quite easy drinking, I didn’t hate it and I didn’t love it so it a draw score from me.
